Austin Tan Cerca de la Frontera is promoting economic justice by sponsoring its 9th annual Women and Fair Trade Festival.
Eight cooperatives, formed by women from around the world adversely affected by globalization, will tell their stories and sell handmade crafts, toys, pottery, jewelry, clothing, textiles, and ethnic weavings.
On Saturday at noon, Mayan weavers from Jolom Mayaetik in Chiapas will present a collection of some of the 89 symbols used in traditional weaving. On Sunday at 2 pm, poets and writers will perform.
