The Sexism/Cinema Film Series will screen the 1996 movie “Set it Off,” which follows four female friends in Los Angeles who decide to plan and execute a bank robbery to achieve a better life for themselves and their families. A panel of University of Texas scholars will follow the film, featuring Ashley Coleman Taylor, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies; Daelena Tinnin, doctoral student in the Department of Radio-Television-Film; Michaela Machicote, doctoral student in the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies; and moderator Christen Smith, director of the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies.
